Are you a detective?
-You should have told me. My mistake. How can a detective be such a bad fighter?
How can a detective have such a bad eye for criminals?

Hey, Seoul city bumpkin.
-What?
Why did you come here? Out to the boondocks? Huh?
-To catch the killer.
Is Seoul that big? Huh? Is it big? Bigger than America? ... Let me tell you about America. They've got the F.B.I. If you watch how they investigate... You know how? Their heads are spinning like a top. Analyzing things... You know why? It's 'cause they got so much fucking land! If you don't use your brain, it's too much ground to cover. So they have no choice, those F.B.I. bastards. But our Republic of Korea... using just your two legs, you can run all over it. You know why? 'Cause our land's the size of my dick. So it's said, Korean detectives investigate with their feet. That's folk wisdom, you bastard. So brainy geeks like you can go the hell to America.

This is a true story. You might already know this but for people that didnāt know - When they film this movie, he didnāt not get arrested. 2017 South Korea finally completed the DNA computerized system, one of the detective randomly send the DNA of several victims, it match an inmate in prison that killed his sister in law in other city. Turn out the killers has moved to other town, married and had family. Somehow, the wife moved out or divorcing him, the sister in law went to the home to get things and he murdered her, he got caught.
His cellmates said that he was watching the movies and drama about the serial killing that he did.
Good movie. The Korean drama āSignalā is good too
AKA Memories of Murder. With the big success of Parasite (2019), time to revisit the older films by Bong Joon-ho. This 2003 murder mystery is loosely based on the true story of Korea's first serial killings in history, which took place between 1986 and 1991 in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province. The film begins on Oct 23, 1986 when local detectives Park (Song Kang-ho) and Cho (Kim Roi-ha) arrive at a double murder crime scene. Soon, a big city detective from Seoul Seo (Sang-kyung Kim) joins them to investigate to solve the case. At the end, they zero in on a prime suspect, but the evidence, the evidence ...
Fascinating restaging of a true story, the first serial killer in Korea. This film is a study of the individual detectives, their personal style and methods, as well the limited technical tools available in the 1980's. There is no grand resolution, the killer was never found.
This one, by the overpraised director of "The Host" was a pleasant surprise, and a much better film. What it has in common with that movie is its badly-juggled humor...rather like someone farting at a funeral.( In this case, we're invited to laugh at the torture scenes in a police interrogation). But aside from this, it is a thoughtful procedural, wherein two characters completely shift their POVS, with an extremely beautiful, provocative beginning and ending. Well worth sitting through, and you'll definitely forgive the occasional broadness and coarseness.
Great Storyline with an amazing Plot twist.
I agree the ending of this movie definitely brings chills down your spine.
This is not a murder mystery. Nor is it a Who-Dun-it. Rather it is a study in individual human nature and how that can change given time and circumstances. The final scene, the final line, the final word, is perhaps the most chilling thing I've ever seen in a movie.
Excellent crime thriller. This is how US crime thrillers should be done. Great script, good acting, haunting score, cinematography, excellent direction.
Very intriguing movie. It catchs you and make you wait for the end.
