A film full of selfish, arrogant Hollywood people - I wish I hadn't watched it, I was hoping for an interesting plot twist, but then Cronenburg's not the master of subtlety and personality development, is he?

I like the cast but I didn't ever need to see Julianne Moore sitting on the toilet farting as she talks to her assistant. The story was very weird and didn't make much sense.

Garbage- Cronenberg's completely lost it- I think he has Alzheimer's. Don't waste your time on this film.

Contrary to many of the comments left here I think this is one of the more accessible of Cronenberg's films. It is an exploration of our dead-end Hollywood culture in all its filth and depravity. The Bruce Wagner script is a revelation. Some boundaries are crossed here. So if you like to watch movies and have an appreciation for their history, you'll want to see this. Because Cronenberg has managed to capture how lost we are now. Not SUNSET BLVD. lost. Not HANNIBAL lost. Not THE BLING RING lost. But truly ass-backwards "this is all that we are" lost. Performances by the principals -- Julianne Moore, John Kusack, Mia Wasikowska -- are flawless.

The dark world of moviedom finds itself on center stage with the psychotic, crazy and otherwise screwed-up characters in Maps to the Stars. The actors are so believable that one forgets it's a story. Even wealth and adoration as a movie star can't overcome the dark side when it comes knocking like in this movie. Horror might be the best description of this truly haunting thriller.

At first I thought this was a parody of a bad movie ( because of the poor acting, dialogue, etc. )- but then I realized - No! It's just a bad movie. I advise you skip this flic even if you're a Cronenberg fan.

I'm resisting the urge to rhapsodize because I understand how widely the opinions differ on which of David Cronenberg's films belong in the greatness category & which ones were just stinkers & sinkers. I'd experienced a lot of gut-wrenching disappointment with 'Spider' & 'A Dangerous Method', & this for me seemed a return to greatness for a longtime director hero of mine, so that would be the short response. Even the perenially safe & sane John Cusack turns in a memorably wicked performance, but it was Evan Bird's sass-talkin' tween actor & Julianne Moore's corrupt Hollywood empress that really took this one over the top for me. I loved how subtle lighting was used throughout to make ordinary faces look momentarily horrific. I loved the ghost children in the swimming pool, & all the personal horror masked by celebrity schmoozing, & the cryptic exposition leading you deeper into the sick mystery of it all, & The Moment When There Is No Turning Back, & also seeing Canadian actor Jonathan Watton naked (praise God). As with other film industry insider flicks, you wonder if everyone in L.A. can really be this hateful & false & depraved, but it is truly fun as hell to watch, & the karmic trajectory & the Cronenbergian personal implosions are tautly synched, uniquely realized, & richly imagined everywhere. Just couldn't have loved this one more, & it won't be long before I see it again. Muy recomendable to the maxxx...! CR

One of the strangest stories I've ever seen put to film ... lukewarm "recommendation". OK if you're in the mood for Indie & odd.

People don't just enter our lives randomly, we call them.
I need you to pick up some prescriptions. Avian. Vicodin. Xanex. Zoloft. And Astragalus and Goldenseal. And um... Yogi-tea.
Don't argue in the bedroom. Bedroom... is for sleeping, making love, not for fighting. You need to talk, go to a coffee shop.
They made me an offer my mother couldn't refuse.
And what exactly is a yuppie? // Are you serious? // Oh, like, I know what it is. I just don't know what it stands for.
Maybe this isn't working out. Maybe you need to just go back to Florida. You know. Go back to Kansas, Dorothy.
Worse case... I go on Oprah again. 'Fess up. Do the whole Lance Armstrong thing.

-Free Tibet! // Tibet is not free. Tibet is very expensive.
-Okay, so there's this crazy girl, right? She's posted like 6000 messages on my Facebook fan page in like 2 months. // Sounds like marriage material.
How old is she? // Totally menopausal. // Oh, beyond! She's near death! She's like older than my grandmother.
She's so amazing. You know, she's such a funny, amazing person. Plus we both have dual disorders, we finish each others sentences.
