Thor Hanson provides an excellent analysis of botanical features of seeds and their evolution and demonstrates how vitally important seeds have been to the development of human societies and history. His writing style is entertaining while at the same time providing much scientific detail. I found the chapter on coffee beans (seeds) particularly fascinating.
