In Nazi Germany of the 1930s homosexuals were legally criminals and considered degenerates and the scum of Hitler's Aryan race, more reviled and despised that Jews, Gypsies or Communists. Tens of thousands were interned in concentration camps to be worked, starved and brutalized to death. This book is a harrowing account told by a survivor who was interned for 6 years on the "evidence" of a photo of himself and a male friend that he had endorsed with a message of endearment on the back, proof of degeneracy under the Third Reich! After liberation from the camps greater injustice from the State, as a "criminal" he was denied any form of compensation and continued to face discrimination and persecution. Humbled to read of the authors tenacity and bravery in such abject brutality. All too often homosexuals are often the forgotten and neglected victims of the Holocaust.
