These are the kind of movies children need to be watching instead of comedy (ugh) and animated movies....

Note: I, myself, am a kid.

I saw North by Northwest when I was 13-years-old and enjoyed it to the max. Previously all my viewings of Hitchcock films were with my parents or on television at home with plenty of commercials. The bedroom talk between Eva Marie Saint and Cary Grant was very tintillating to me with my beginning stages of interest in girls. This was 1959 and society was much more reserved than today's audiences can cope with. The movie itself was classic Hitchcock with breath taking scenes of heroism and escapisms. James Mason was perfect as Vandamm, an international criminal who seemingly moved without stoppage. Good color, good music, and fantastic backdrops made this film an on-the-edge-of-your seat viewing. If you don't like North by Northwest then there is something lacking in your character.

Sorry guys, I was never a fan of Hitchcock. Nevertheless from time to time I watched one of his just try to convince myself that the reputation he enjoyed could not be wrong. The one I enjoyed most was The Man Who Knew Too Much. Thinking back, I was a teenager and it could be only the famous song and the singer that made me attached to. To this day I am still die hard fan of Doris. The thrilling scenes by Hitchcock are mostly childish and means the director tried to play the viewers but failed. He either enjoyed doing that to himself or making a fool of himself.

Cary Grant being chased by a crop dusting plane and climbing around on Mount Rushmore? Yes, please! This is one of Hitchcock's greatest films for sure.

i would like to mention the crop dusting scene, one of the finest scenes of suspense in the industry.

My favorite Alfred Hitchcock movie!! I see that as of today, 2/17/18, there are 44 patrons waiting on the four copies in the KCLS catalog. That is a shame. If I add my name, which I may still decide to do, it may be a long time before a copy come available for me and my family. I would hope KCLS has someone who watches for long backups on materials and orders additional copies. Remember, North by Northwest came out over 50 years ago. Yet it has the popularity of a brand new movie. That says a lot about the reputation of the master director Alfred Hitchcock!

I’ve been watching Alfred Hitchcock films this month (SPL has quite a few). I thought I had seen most of them, but did not remember North By Northwest (1959). Starring Cary Grant and Eva Marie Saint. Grant made four films with Hitchcock (this was his last). He plays a NYC ad-man who somehow gets involved with an international spy ring. He gets “abducted, framed for murder, chased and crop-dusted” (DVD container.) The final scene has a chase down the face of Mount Rushmore (think I would have remembered that if I had previously seen this film!) Surprisingly, sexy and suggestive for 1959, but of course the woman character is also a spy! Classic Hitchcock worth another viewing if you haven’t seen it in awhile or better yet if you have never seen it.

An old classic and still well worth watching.

This is absolutely a classic! One of my favorite lines in the movie: "How does a girl like you get to be a girl like you". One of the best movies, ever!

A great film, and certainly one of the most entertaining movies ever made, directed by Alfred Hitchcock at his peak.

Cop: "Sit down." Thornhill: "I don't wanna sit down. (sits) Perfectly alright, see? We'll get 'em. We'll throw the book at 'em. Assault & kidnaping. Assault with a gun and bourbon and a sports car. We'll get 'em." Cop: "You'll be alright after a good night's sleep. We got a nice cell all made up for ya." Thornhill: "I don't want a cell. I want a policeman."
