This is a wonderful series-- entertaining and informative! I saw it for the first time a few weeks on tv (the 2nd season, I guess) and was so impressed I checked to see if the library had anything on it. I haven't been disappointed at all and I've been trying to mete it out one a day to make them last :)

Well-known Shakespeareans introduce well-known plays. There are some magical moments involving footage from old BBC productions, and rehearsals for new productions at the Globe Theatre. Ethan Hawke, not the worst actor in the world, sticks out painfully as the token American. I found out more than I wanted to know about Derek Jacobi -- he's one of those people who think the plays were written by someone else; someone noble, of course. I would have liked more about changing interpretations of the plays. There is more than one way to skin a Hamlet.
