The movie kind of drags on for a long time.
The cover art makes it seem like an adventure but that simply isn't the case.
The production value is pretty good and the characters are believable enough. It's just not that interesting to watch and probably didn't catch as much nostalgia with me as it would if I were more familiar with Norwegian folk lore.

I'm not sure if a movie can be sent back where it came from janedough66. And, djx, when you call a movie a waste of time (this film runs less than 80 minutes), do you mean your life is so important that you would've been doing something much more constructive with your time? Like curing cancer maybe? The ignorance (and massacre of grammar) that haunts these boards is depressing. For those who enjoy odd, slightly left field films, this Norwegian import is a good find. Two cleaners working at a cabin find a woman, who turns out to be a mythical creature. Things get weird and violent from there. The lead actress reminded me a little of ScarJo's alien from "Under the Skin." Blending elements of horror, fantasy, and drama, I thought this was an interesting little film that made good use of its small budget. Also check out "Troll Hunter" (Norway) and "Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale" (Finland).

Avoid this waste of time... unless you really enjoy wasting your time. Its so bad its almost as if the people that made this crap film had never seen a movie before...the actors will certainly never work again, i hope.

interesting but the voiceover for Leo, one of the main characters, was awful. very stilted. reminded me of a voice in an oldtime history class filmstrip. distracting

Beginning of the movie:
Two guys are cleaning up blood at a crime scene... well, one guy is. The other guy is throwing up in a bucket.
Say hello to Leo and... I forget his name, I'll call him barf guy.
These two guys find a cellar in the woods.
The cellar is old, like canned goods from the 80's (that for some reason have pop tops) old.
Leo says they shouldn't go in there, barf guy goes in there. Leo says they shouldn't touch anything, barf guy touches stuff.
Barf guy is listening to an audio tape he found. He hears a recorded scream and then a naked lady pops out of the bathtub nearby and pulls a tube out of her mouth (that moment when you first wake up from the Matrix, right?).
When Leo finds the two of them, the lady is stragling barf guy and glaring at Leo.
Leo, stone cold guy that he is, very calmly says "if you hold him like that, he can't breath" and tosses her some military fatigues he finds laying around.
She lets go of barf guy and things settle down.
Barf guy finds out her name is Thale from one of the tapes and her response to the name.
Enter the middle of the movie.
Strap yourself in, because the two guys are about to spend the next hour sitting around in that cellar.
They get Thale some food. They listen to the audio tapes and browse some educational materials strewn around the cellar.
They sit and talk to each other while watching and trying to communicate with Thale.
They find out she was taken from a military research program because the guy that took her fell in love with her.
In an attempt to stop them from being able to find her, he cut off her tale.
Oh, and she has the power to share memories with people that make physical contact with hey and the power to put life back into things.
Also, Leo has lung cancer and barf guy has a kid. Their character development isn't very important.
Enter the wrap-up portion of the movie.
Thale freaks out and locks the door.
You may think the strange creatures we've been catching glimpses of are trying to get in, but no.
Now that Thale is awake again, the people are trying to find her. As gas starts seeping in through the keyhole, barf guy gets dizzy and reaches out to Thale who shares some more memories.
Barf guy wakes up with a hood over his head. Somebody in a lab coat is trying to interrogate him as to the whereabouts of Thale.
Meanwhile, back inside the cellar Thale is hiding. After a bit she pops out of the bath tub and goes on a nude killing spree.
Back to the boys in the woods. Wait for it.... BOOM! The cellar explodes for some reason, then the lab coat guy get killed by the strange forest creatures and dragged off into the woods. Thale finds the two and does something to Leo.
Next thing we see is a police report being typed up.
This is the most important part of the movie "the woman may have been a hulder."
Yes! It all makes sense now! See, a "hulder", also known as a lady of the forest, is a Norwegian mythical creature. The women are beautiful and the men are... not.

After leaving the station, Leo and barf guy sit down to have a talk. Apparently Thale cured Leo's lung cancer. Isn't that nice?

Next we see Thale naked in a grassy clearing. She get up and looks over a hill top to see a bunch of other hulders scurrying into the woods.
End of movie.
