Surprisingly enough - This "Davy Crockett" double bill actually turned out to be a whole lot more entertaining than what I had initially expected it would be.

Both "King of the Wild Frontier" and "River Pirates" were Technicolor Disney productions from 1955. And, it was quite evident, right from the start, that these 2 pictures had been completed on fair-sized budgets.

Of course - These historical accounts were fictionalized versions of real-life events where Davy was always depicted as being a true American hero (in a buckskin jacket) who could never do any wrong.

Davy Crockett was portrayed by actor, Fess Parker. And, his loyal sidekick, George Russell, was portrayed by actor, Buddy Ebsen.

Yes. This double-feature is definitely worth a view.

VERY GOOD set of 5 episodes from Disney TV show repackaged as two movies. I particularly enjoyed seeing Jeff York as Mike Fink, King of the River in the River Pirates film.
Brought back fun memories - I'm sure I saw these on TV in mid '50s as pre-teen youth.
